REPATRIATION DISPUTE OVER INDIGENOUS RELICS.

Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park received an Alberta Tourism Grant in 2015 to begin pursuing the return of Chief Crowfoot’s regalia, including his shirt and leggings, both of which are being housed alongside his other belongings at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter, U.K.

While the process has been underway, there have been several roadblocks and challenges to the transaction. The current stall in negotiations by both sides has delayed the return of Chief Crowfoot’s regalia.

We are hopeful that the end result will be mutually beneficial for both parties involved.
